pizza and pesto

That's what was on the menu for dinner tonight....pizza and pesto.

I gathered lots of fresh basil from my garden and made a yummy homemade pesto sauce....you can find the recipe here...oh wait....blogger won't let me link anymore....so you'll have to visit www.marthastewart.com and type in Basic Basil Pesto for the recipe.

Then....I made some homemade pizza dough from here...oh wait...that's right....I still can't link....can you tell that annoys me just a little bit....anyways....you can find the pizza dough recipe at www.thefarmchicks.typepad.com and look back to her post on June 10th for grilled pizza...it's a great pizza dough recipe.

And here it is.....I topped the pesto sauce with fresh slices of mozzerella and tomatoes and a few more leaves of basil....I love me some basil. It was yummy!

my weekend find...

Was not 1...but 2 of these great vintage doctor stools......

and the fact that they're a yummy shade of blue......makes them even better. I love adding a little industrial to the ol' farmhouse.

I haven't decided whether to keep'em or sell them in my etsy shop.....hmmmm.....decisions desicions.

Oh....and if I've been a little absent....it's because blogger has been giving me a little trouble with posting....if it's not the photos....it's my text....I can't even seem to preview my post before it goes live....geesh....hello blogger....if your reading....I love ya and all....and I realize your free....but can you get it together...and I mean that in the nicest way ;o)

weekend chores

Well....I really wouldn't call them chores....more like simple pleasures.

I gathered my supplies.....scissors....twine....and a basket.....

and then went to work....cutting fresh lavender from my garden.....and fresh eggs from my coop....


have I told you I love lavender....cuz I do. I especially love that I can go out my door and cut me a few bundles whenever I want....I really love that.



And nothing beats fresh farm eggs...I love those too!

what do we have here....

See these little fellows....we found them under our house...along with our littlest missing hen.

About 3 weeks ago we noticed that our teeny tiny frizzle hen was missing....we thought for sure she was a goner. Then last week, my youngest son went under our porch and found Batgirl....and under her was a clutch of eggs.

We were going to throw the eggs out because we didn't know how long they had been there....but started doing some yard work and totally forgot to do it.

Well...thank goodness we didn't....because the next moring I heard a faint chirping sound and went to investigate....and there she was...Batgirl and 1 chick....then 2 chick.....3 chick.....4 chick.

We were so excited to see chicks hatched here....we can now actually be called a lil' hobby farm. Batgirl was doing good for a couple days with the chicks...but then she started pecking them a little too much...so we decided to bring them in the house to raise. We thought Batgirl would be sad to see them go....nope....she started running around like a free bird....I think I even heard her "YIPPEE" a couple times. I think she thought hatching them was enough work....she didn't want to raise them too.

We never thought we'd see any chicks hatched here because our hens are not very broody....they pretty much lay eggs and run....but Batgirl was a good momma and stayed with her eggs until they hatched.

So now I'd like to introduce you to our newest family members....

Oh....I often get asked what a frizzle bantam looks like...they're tiny chickens with curly feathers....I'll have to get a photo of Batgirl for you so you can check it out.

Okay....has it really been 11 days since I last posted....man....when the kiddos are home....time sure flies.

I can't really say I've been doin' much....just moving things around the ol' homestead....I can't seem to keep anything in a particular spot for very long....I know lots of you can relate. I'm also sluggishly trying to get my basement bathroom re-painted. I just painted it last year....but like rearranging my home...wall color doesn't usually stay the same too long either.

My buddy Mary also invited me to Pinterest....I played on it for a little while....and found some great inspiration....think pink....like my farmtable. I'll share what I'm painting pink soon. By the way....thanks Mary....I'm hooked ;o)

I did do a little fluffing in my shop today. I added a few new things and lowered the prices on others. I've got lots of cool new goods to add to my shop....and if the suns shining tomorrow...I'll get them photographed and listed this week.
