a new farmtable

My hubby finished my farmtable a little over a week ago.....and I'm in love.
It's everything I wanted it to be....a little rustic to play off the chandelier....and made by his hands.
I love that it's much more narrow than my old farmtable....it's so much better for conversation....not to mention passing the mashed potatoes.
I love the planked top and chunky square legs.
I decided to keep the top natural (with a coat of wax for protection) and just paint the bottom half.
Here's one of the details I love most about the table....hubby inserted dowels on the top were the screws are to make it look like it had been put together with wood only. I also think it makes it look like it may have been a barn door....which I love.
So....there it is....my farmtable....loving made for me by my "I can make anything" hubby.

  4. Wow...this is just gorgeous! If your hubby doesn't make furniture for a living, he should! I love that you kept it natural on top...every little ding and scratch will remind you of all the good time shared around it!

  6. Andrea,

The comment I was typing went crazy and disappeared before I finished so if it appears to be approved just trash it.

The table your husband built is wonderful and it looks fantastic in your dining room! Just think you have a man who built you a dining room table and one that serves you food on it!

  31. Can I tell you how much I love your table??? Our 8th anniversary is comming up in a few weeks and all i want is for my handy dandy husband to make me one!! I've already made my rustic farm table benches. Heehee, so now all i need is the table:) You don't happen to have a list of materials that you used?? I have already emailed your post to my hubby for a good nudge in the right direction, lol! Take care,
    April
