I've Been A Home Cookin' Mama

So....do you remember this post?

Well....since that venting episode I had....

I've been on a home cookin' rampage....so much so....

I've pretty much been making everything from scratch....right down to the marshmallows.

Even the hot cocoa's homemade....yum!

Now....I haven't just been cooking sweets ya know....I've been making pizza dough from scratch....spaghetti and meatballs....chicken piccata....and potato cheese soup....just to name a few.

I've been using lots of fresh ingredients....and changing up the menu quite a bit.....and you know what....my boys have been e.a.t.i.n.g....just a moment while I do the happy dance.

It may have been partially my fault....you know....them not eating....because I was in a cooking rut....

well....not anymore.

I've been trying lots of new recipes from here...here and here....and they've all been really good.

One of my favorites has been Pioneer Woman's pizza dough...it's so easy....inexpensive....and good.

I am now a happier mom....

what mom wouldn't be....

when she hears her kids say..."mom....you got anymore?"....

doing the happy dance....again.

UPDATE: I've written a post with the recipe for these yummy marshmallows....you can find it here.

  1. yay! I love making my own things and cooking organic! I am making stromboli tonight with homemade pizza dough. I am going to have to get that marshmallow recipe!

  2. yummo! sounds fantastic! can you come cook at my house? i'm kind of in a cooking rut too.

  3. Ahh.. yes I love cooking from scratch. Noodles, bread, homegrown tomato sauce. I can't say it all turns out but it tastes darn better than the store bought stuff.. of course I have to think that, right ;)

  4. Aw, congrats! Cooking ruts suck... big time. I find browsing through cookbooks to be really inspiring! Barefoot contessa, Donna Hay etc...

Speaking of Donna Hay - check out my favourite on Amazon. It's called Seasons.

    It's stunning! You'll l.o.v.e it.

  5. Hi Andrea,
    How are you?

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy NEw YEar!
We just got back from visiting family in MT... I have a lot of catching up to do. : )

  6. i am so glad you are out of your cooking rut. i wish i was. i need help. those marshmallows look amazing.

Happy Dance is being done over here, too ....

Happy New Year - off to a great start!

  8. There is nothing better than feeding delighted children . . . and nothing more difficult to achieve : ). Good for you!

  9. My son had four helpings of homemade pasta and sauce the other night. The shrimp was the added bonus. Good for you, I am doing the happy dance for you as well. Happy New Year.

  10. Yay! I find it also helps to get your children involved in the cooking process (sometimes!)
My dd, 10yo, took some cooking camps this summer and loved it. She came home full of pride and lots of recipes. Now I won't lie and tell you that she wants to help me make dinner, but she is a great eater and will almost always try new foods.
And if she asks to help, I always let her.
This is the time of year for me that I start trying to get some new recipes together to try also.....wish me luck!

  11. Good for you, Andrea! I have to try your marshmallow recipe. I've always wanted to make my own. I did a lot of cooking/baking over the last week and tried one of The Pioneer Woman's recipes and it was delicious. I made her Nantucket Cranberry Pie. It sounds like you've been having fun! Have a great week.

  12. I'm sooo happy for you, Andrea, that you found your way out of that rut - and that everyone's loving the new Chef Andrea! lol! I'm definitely going to check out that pizza dough recipe. We're always looking for a good healthy one. And homemade marshmellows???? You put me to shame....! lol!
