Does Your Bedroom.....

Have more outfits than you?

If I had a hundred dollars to either buy clothes or bed linens.....I can assure you I'd choose bed linens. I don't know what it is about beautiful linens that makes me crazy....I have a linen closet....no scratch that....I have 2 linen closets (and I'm not talking little closets....these are good size closets) that are full...no wait...beyond full...of linen duvets....sheets....euro shams...pillow covers....vintage quilts....you name it...and it's probably in there.

The fact is I love beautiful nubby vintage linen bedding....and beautiful nubby vintage linen is not cheap.....but sometimes....you get lucky and find a gorgeous piece of linen for a steal...

case in point....this lovely piece of linen you see above (it's folded on the foot of my bed in the first photo) is a gorgeous piece of vintage linen....but not bed linen...it's a tablecloth....that I bought at the thrift store....for get this....$2.00. After washing it in hot water and throwing it in the dryer (gotta make sure it's nice and clean) it came out beautifully....and I can't tell you how much I love how it looks on my bed....there's just something about a white bed that makes me swoon.

so to answer my own question....

does your bedroom have more outfits than me....

the answer is undubitably....

yes!

and as I type this....I'm already looking at Restoration Hardwares Belgian Provence Stripe bedding.....

I think I may need professional help.

  1. No, keep right going. Few things are as satisfying as a neat heap of folded linen. Almost better than money. Your bed looks lovely.

  4. Oh that's brilliant - what a wonderful post! LOVING the bedlinen - your bedroom looks scrumptious. I'm totally with you on the linen obsession front, although with me it also extends to cake stands, white plates, tea cups..etc. etc. The only professional help you need is with the ironing and folding! xx

  5. Wow Andrea your bed linens are just gorgeous! I love these photos! The duvet with the ruffles and bedskirt- drool!! I said it before & I'll say it again~ you have great style!!! And I would much rather buy linens than clothes any day too. The vintage table cloth is great! I've been obsessed with digging through the linens at my local antique mall lately.. it's amazing what you can find for a tiny price! Love that RH bedding, too! Have a great labor day weekend.

  8. Andrea,
I am with you I would choose linens over clothes any day of the week! Your bedroom looks just beautiful. A while back when I noticed that you put a pharmacy lamp next to the bed I dug out mine and out it on hubby's side of the bed and it looks amazing. Thanks for the inspiration! I saw the bedding in the new Restoration Hardware catalog and fell in love, the whole catalog is beyond amazing!

    Best wishes,
    Tammy

  11. Oh, and to answer your question.

Yes, I have so many linens I could open a hotel! I started working at Marshall Fields Dept store in the linen department during college and stayed as a Manager for about 5years. Needless to say the deals I found on incredible linens were just too hard to pass up! ;o)

  14. Just came to your blog for the first time via FlowerPatchFarmGirl. Beautiful! My bedroom is my favorite room in the house, and I love linen too. You've inspired me to go dig out some pieces of antique linen and lace in my fabric stash and stitch up a pillow this rainy afternoon.

  15. Yes I have more duvets than twice the amount of beds in my house. I should probably be investing in clothes the way I invest in duvets. But clothes just don't look as nice as a beautiful bed.
I'm thinking you are normal and to just keep on buying...especially the new Restoration Hardware bedding ;)

  23. Oh I could die in this bed !! And I mean that in a positive way :) I love bed linens too, but unfortunately beautiful linen here is incredible expensive, so I use what I can find at local flea markets. Your bed linens are absolutely gorgoeus, what a great idea to use a tablecloth!!

    Love, love your pillows..

  24. Ummmmm....just go ahead and sign me up for that support group, Andrea. You should see my small linen closet! And what did I just purchase at the flea market Sunday? More vintage pillow cases with beautiful crocheting. And what did I do when you mentioned RA's Belgian linens? Flew right over there to drool. My big problem is that I love linens AND clothes.....! lol! Your bed is absolutely beautiful, too!

  36. Yes, I must confess... my Bedroom has about as many outfits as me *blush*... there's just something about beautiful Linens that draws me like a magnet... it is the one room of the Home that I change the look of often and having a rich variety of 'bedroom outfits' makes that possible. I'm loving your Bedroom's outfits!!!
