Our order has been placed....and these are just a few of our new family members....
Black Australorps
Silver Laced Wyandottes

White Polish (these are the ones my older son choose)

Crevecoeurs (these are the ones my little guy choose)
PhoenixWe've actually ordered more than a dozen different types of chickens...and more than a couple dozen in total....and can I just tell ya how excited I am...we love chickens...and have been wanting to add to our farm family. Our day old baby chicks should be here the second week in February....just waitin' for the post office to call and tell me to pick up "my girls".
If you'll be needin' eggs in about 5-7 months....just let me know....we think our girls lay the best eggs...cuz we spoil'em :o)

My grandpa had a few chickens on his farm. As kids they were so much fun to watch. My grandma would say there is nothing better than fresh eggs!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Tammy

ReplyDeleteHi Andrea, I just saw your comment on my blog...the mag I saw your shop mentioned in was the Winter issue of 100 decorating ideas under $100...they have a whole section using grain sacks and mention your shop - "get vintage-look coffee sacks at fadedplains.com"...I don't know if the pic they show is of your items or not. At any rate, it's always nice to get free advertising, right?!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

That's awesome. I would love to have chickens! Some of them are so beautiful and unique. Do they ever get personalities since you keep them as pets??
ReplyDeleteOh you simply MUST visit my pal Jayme at Tales of the Coop Keeper. I actually interviewed her Girls. They're all multi-talented :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
What fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you think the 5 neighbors that I share walls with will mind a few 'cock-a-doodle-doo's' at the crack of dawn?
I so wish I could have chickens in the middle of the 'burbs.....
Enjoy them!
Yahoooo...funny thing is I have always wanted chickens too....even when I was a small one..something about them. I want to see lots of images of your wee babies xoxoo
ReplyDeleteGood for you. We have just started with chickens about eleven months ago and love them. We are only getting two or three eggs a day right now, but that's oaky as we know it slows down this time of year. Can't wait til it picks up again. Our favorite chicken we have to date is a Polish Bantam that looks like Kramer from Seinfeld. She is adorable and very sweet. The only thing is... she doesn't lay. Maybe none of this kind do, but we didn't know that. It doesn't matter, we love her anyway. Isn't it crazy that you can get chickens at the post office?
ReplyDeleteThank you for entered my giveaway.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Federica
How cool is that?
ReplyDeleteCan't wait till you post pictures of their arrival.
Wish we were neighbors ;)
Andrea,
ReplyDeleteThis is so neat. You so need to keep us up to date with this new endeavor. Good luck!
Tammy

ReplyDeleteHi Andrea, as an occasional petsitter, I find chickens to be the perfect pet. You feed them and they pay you! How good can it get. Enjoy the girls. Sherry
ReplyDeleteAndrea you are so in my zone right now! I really want some chickens at our little house in Ojai but I'm not up there enough and I worry about the needs of these special little friends. Many of our neighbors have chickens and roosters for that matter. But I can't wait to see your new "girls".
ReplyDeletePlease share your experiences as I am so interested in how this will work for you and how much attention they need.
I did a post on chicken houses a while back and the variety out there is so funny!
fun times ahead....kelley
